TERMS OF USE

The ground rules,
clear from the start.

How standbnb works, what hosts commit to, what guests accept, and what happens when the 48-hour window closes - stated plainly, before anything else.

01

What standbnb is

standbnb is a companion to your existing listing, not a replacement for it. Hosts offer their property at a second, lower price and keep the right to cancel a standbnb booking up to 48 hours before check-in. Guests accept that risk in exchange for a lower price on a stay they could not otherwise afford. When a host accepts a booking, standbnb sets the discounted rate and makes the booking on the host's existing Airbnb or Booking.com listing, and the stay is completed there.

02

Pre-registration

The service has not launched. Hosts can register interest now; guest search opens later, first in Miami, the Smokies, and San Diego. Submitting the host or guest forms on this site does not create a booking, a listing, or a contract - it only tells us you are interested.

03

What it costs

Listing is free. When the service is live, standbnb takes 10% of the advertised price, and only when a booking goes through. The 10% is part of the advertised price: if you advertise $900, you receive $810; to receive $900, advertise $1,000. No other costs apply to hosts or guests.

04

The 48-hour window

Hosts may cancel a standbnb booking up to 48 hours before check-in, with no penalty. Inside the last 48 hours cancellation is not possible. Hosts are notified 48 hours before check-in and decide then. When a host declines, the guest is notified and shown alternative accommodation options, typically hotels. The guest chooses and pays for their own alternative. The 96% booking-success figure shown on this site is illustrative until bookings are live.

05

Host commitments

Until a host decides - which happens when standbnb notifies them 48 hours before check-in - the host's calendar is untouched and the listing stays live at its normal rate. Hosts are responsible for avoiding double bookings in that window. Once standbnb makes the booking on the host's listing, the night is closed there. Hosts must hold an active listing elsewhere, or a property of their own, to participate.

06

Guest expectations

Guests accept that a standbnb booking can be cancelled up to 48 hours before check-in, that a good alternative may not exist - especially in high season - and that standbnb does not pay for the fallback accommodation. Prices shown on this site before launch are illustrative.

07

Changes to these terms

These terms describe the service as it stands during pre-registration. When bookings go live, they will be replaced by full host and guest terms, and we will say so clearly on the site. Continued use of the service after that change means the new terms apply.
